Cleaned solar panels April 2020 lockdown

Solar panels, very low chemicals, and wildlife areas

A little more info on our systems here …  regarding use of boilers and our work over many years to make this facility as environmentally friendly as we can.
We have solar panels, near chemical-free water; the water is from an adjacent artesian well…. and we have lovely gardens and wildflower areas maintained by volunteers and staff.

We installed solar panels in 2011, which save around 4 tonnes of CO2 a year. The power generated goes back into the grid and we receive payment for this, which we offset against our running costs.
A full report was carried out last week and it confirmed that the best solution was to install new boilers, thus enabling us to open to the public with everything up-to-date. While we have done our utmost to maintain them, unfortunately the boilers could not be serviced until there was water in the system and that required the pool to be filled.

Our pool has been heated for as long as any staff here can remember- though many locals still recall chilly lessons from their schooldays. Once we’re up and running we’ll be back to heating the pool at 27-28°C all year round.

Since 2012 we’ve been using ionisation technology to keep the pool near-chemical free; nice and healthy water and in the outdoors too.

When you are next in do take a look at our 4-metre long history board installed in 2020 in the pool viewing room. Though so much has happened since we may need to add another panel.

We can’t wait to open and show Chesham our fully refurbished pool asap in 2023 in time for our busy Spring season.
